Cutting Machine Repair was Incorporated in 2013. The owner and president (me), David Mercer spent 14 years working for Burny (now owned by Lincoln electric), was once a leading leading manufacturer of CNC controls for the shape cutting industry. I worked as a Field Service Engineer and later went on to manage the service department. Some of the responsibilities included coordinating and teaching training classes for distributors for both domestic and foreign suppliers, designing and engineering custom retrofit solutions for large cutting machines and scheduling service duties for eight service engineers. In 1998 I moved to Houston, TX and worked as a Service Engineer for Plasma Systems, Inc. I gained a greater knowledge of the operation and repair of several different types of plasma systems and gained a vast amount of mechanical knowledge of several different cutting machines. In 2005 I went to work for Flow International Corporation, a leading manufacturer of ultra high pressure waterjet cutting machines. More mechanical knowledge about ballscrews, AC servo drives, Hydraulics and pneumatics was gained along with the ultra high pressure pumps.
We currently work with another individual in Houston with similar experience in the wajerjet industry and share knowledge, and service work to keep our customers up and running.
